Did you know that the ratio between the size of a dolphin's brain and the rest of his body is proportionally bigger that the one of a chimpanzee? At this level, the dolphin is hence closer to Humans than it is to the other animals. The dolphin is from far the most "intelligent" being, theoretically. One thing is sure, all the humans who had the chance to encounter a dolphin like this one (and we're not talking about MarineLand here) cannot stay indifferent to the majestuosity and to the little more soul dolphins have in their curious eyes.
Dolphins have a special place in the heart of men since the beginnings of times. There are a lot of stories of dolphins saving men or boats and a lot more of dolphins wanting to share moments with men. They might even be the explanation to the myth of the mermaid.
We had the chance to be approached by a group of dolphins in the clear waters of Tenerife when I was going for a cruise with my friend Dan from Romania. I have to say that I felt a bit of jealousy: they look like they're having so much fun! Something in them seems to say: come play with us, we're having a blast! One eye is looking at you, while they hover under your board... then a little movement of the fin and they are gone where we cannot follow them!
Dolphins are very affected by a few things: plastic bags, pollution and some Asian hunters who massacre them without consideration.
So be mindful in your every day actions!
Thanks a lot to Dan, Umberto and SUP Academy Tenerife.
